It's a chipper nelly giveaway!

Hooray
 for 100 followers!
And I believe it's customary to partake in a little giveaway to celebrate such a milestone.
There is (of course) a story behind my choice of giveaway. You may remember a lovely little set of blocks I used to make from old Beano comics....until the man from Beano said 'I don't think so'! (see here).

Well, last week I heard from the people at Ladybird! To be precise, the lady from the licencing department at Penguin, who own Ladybird, placed an order for one ladybird block, featuring a single '!'.
I took it as a gentle warning - what do you think? Being such a scardy cat I decided I shouldn't sell them anymore - but it doesn't stop me Giving them away!!

So - I hereby offer up a set of 6 unique chipper nelly blocks featuring images from vintage ladybird books AND 5 vintage Beano blocks... NOT available in any shop!  If you would like to see more images and examples here's the link to a flickr set.

I'm happy to personalise them with a word or words of your choice and will post them ANYWHERE in the world.

To enter simply leave me a comment on this post. For a second chance to win grab the button and share the lo♥e on your sidebar, and let me know (can you believe I've made a button and managed a grabable code? I'm SO pleased with myself).

I'll be drawing a name at random on 14th November.

So what else has been going on? We spent the first half of the half term holiday in Edinburgh. Cleggy and I spent a year living in there when newly married and have very fond memories.

Cleggy's brother and family still live there - and kindly shared their (beautiful) home with us. We don't see nearly enough of them.

Our boys LOVED seeing their Scottish cousins!
Not many photos but hopefully these sum up our precious family time - thanks Gareth and Alice - we love you very much.

And, as always, lots of chipper nelly makes! I've got a whole new batch of Christmas products waiting to be photographed but until then some commissions - always a welcome break from Santa!

Birthday blocks and signs for boys for one of my favourite customers:

And loads of these nursery blocks for notonthehighstreet customers.

Each set ends up being quite different -
I try to make the boys names more boyish and use lighter colours for the girls.

Another customer ordered three of the home blocks for a new home gift (with a lovely message on the back) so we did something a little different - which worked nicely! hope the recipients liked them too...
I know I've had a few new blogging pals follow recently - I'll be over to yours for a proper hello this weekend. Cleggy is away on business for the next few days...so I'll be whiling away my evenings blog hopping! (and maybe partaking in a small amount of dark chocolate..for my health you understand)

  1. Yes yes yes please!! I'd love to be entered in your giveaway! I so love all of the blocks that you make... They really are gorgeous. I was thinking about getting some for Rose one day. I will put your button in my sidebar but as my laptop won't let me view your blog (and hasn't let me for a while, annoyingly) I'm reading it on my phone, so I will have to try and figure out how to get it on the laptop again so I can grab your button.
Thank you for offering such a lovely giveaway! :-)

  7. Me oh my fee! Look at you go! I'm getting so depressed thinking of all I'm NOT getting done compared to you. I suppose I can keep blaming the house remodel for a bit longer! And what a fun giveaway. Darn those folks who get all prickly about people using their vintage comic papers! Good call on the giveaway. They can't stop you there! Ha!

  16. Oh wow, what a fab giveaway. Count me in definitely, I love old Ladybird books, in fact I used them to teach my youngest to read when she was struggling at school in Reception. She loved them too. The lady at Ladybird made me laugh BTW. Glad you enjoyed your visit to Edinburgh, unfortunately my sister no longer lives there so we haven't been for ages. :( xx

  22. Hi sweetness, I would obviously LOVE to u are win a block collection, I am a huge admirer of your work.
It is hard to say about the Ladybird images, I think it benifits the company to be honest- at least you are paying homage to the orginal books by recreating something beautiful. xxx

  23. If you keep the chocs in another room you can argue that you're cancelling out the calories by walking to get it :)

Loved the Beano since I was about six. I have Denise the Menace pjs. It runs in the family - my dad grew up with the Beano (wish he'd kept his copies). xx

  31. ooh yes please enter me in to your comp. How on earth can ladybird or anyone else complain if you are sticking their original items onto blocks to sell? I could understand if you were copying them and then sticking them on blocks but if they are original that can't be breaching copyright surely. Love the ! purchase however , somewhat classy :-) Ooh our little cousins from Scotland came down to us last week, don't you just love the accent! x

    ReplyDelete
  32. er...enter me?! twice!!!! Thanks for the heads up re the giveaway, what spoil sports these big corps are, I'm always really tempted to do stuff like that but copyright always rears its ugly head and I bottle it, I suppose if the shoe was on the other foot I wouldn't want someone using my stuff.

Maybe the Ladybird peeps will see how lush your makes are and commission you to make a whole bunch of blocks??? xxxx

  44. OMG, what a passive-aggressive lady from ladybird. That all sounds very sinister. What did you do, just ignore the order?! Ha!

Anyhow, would love to be in with a chance of winning so please enter me. I am absolutely loving the Christmas blocks. I can't tell you how much I like them... They are so lovely and heavy for their size... (I'm thinking I sound a bit pervy now, but you know what I mean, they're so darned tactile!)

I will put your button on my blog (get you!) when I've worked out how to do it. It's a bit late right now and I've had far too much wine to contemplate it..

    Have a good weekend, lovely.

  47. I would love to enter - your blocks are fab. I see lots of people using various 'old papers' to create art I would love to know the 'proper rules' is it how you describe them do you think. I've def seen bunting made from old ladybird books umpf tricky.

  48. My dear Fee,

My sweet blogger friend VICKI SAYER is having trouble leaving comments and asked that I send you this message:

WOW Fee! ...and your going to GIVE them away!!
PLEASE please please count me IN !!!!
I found you thru Anita's Castles Crowns and Cottages....and I will be following you from now on.
As for 'getting into trouble with the LAW' heeheehee...I have been there and done THAT. You see I have created some Art Dolls for my Etsy shop, and one doll, who I have called 'Paige' has a very 'Moulin Rouge' look to her attire...so...in her description blurb, I mentioned that "she hoped to one day perform at the Moulin Rouge."
WELL...the LAWYER for Moulin Rouge (yep...they have paid this man to sus out any naughtiness with 'THEIR' name) quickly stomped on that idea!! Thing is...there ARE LOADS and LOADS of things for sale on Etsy with the tag 'Moulin Rouge'...so I am sure he will have his work cut out for him as he comes down heavy on everyone who dares to use the words 'Moulin Rouge'. Such is life!

  68. Hi Fee

Sunday night and I'm avoiding the X factor while the girls sing along, I can't stand it, Thank goodness for lovely blog hopping and then to find a seriously goodyness giveaway is going on too. Please chuck my name in the pot too.

Funny this small pooter world isn't it and how it all links up. I found Jane through Lucy (Attic 24) and Gabs (moobaacluck) through a friends tweet about her knitting group. Now Gabs is doing my market Pick 'n' Mix and posting pics of Jane's work on her blog, then you found her too. In real life lovely lady, can't wait to see her work all laid out either, really looking forward to it.

Sorry for the ramble. Enjoy your week with all back at school.

Such a shame as the books will now be consigned to the shelf for nobody to enjoy! One does wonder though what they can do since your not 'copying' anything just recycling...Good luck with your other ventures. Regards from a fellow creative addict!
