I give you....fluffy ducklings!

As you may have read, our last attempt at hatching ducks failed miserably, thanks to Mr Magpie!
However, Cleggy was in regular contact with a kindly lady from Sandbach, who breeds all kinds of ducks and chickens (as well as llamas!) who, on hearing our disappointment, offered him 2 ducklings hatched on the same day...how very kind!

So all boys went on a little trip today, and came back with 2 adorable additions to our (growing) menagerie.
I present LOLA
(so called because she cheeped in time to Barry Manilow's Copacabana)
Lola is a Call duck, which is a small breed with a round beak that comes in many colours. They were bred to lure other ducks into duck traps, although are now kept primarily for decoration or as a pet.
And here is Coco!
who is a black East Indian duck, also a small breed. They have a black bill, glossy plumage and a ‘beetle’ sheen in green, blue and purple.
Geordie Boy absolutely loves them (as does Cleggy!).
More pictures to follow - when I can get them to stand still!
Meanwhile...all 3 chipper nelly outlets are back in business. I was supposed to be making some back stock, but soon got bored (day 1!) and insead made some new pegs:

It’s yet another weird week for the boys this week – only 2 days at school! Can’t believe it’s all coincided with amazingly sunny weather – such a treat!
Hope it’s shining on you too,
Fee x

  3. Oh Fee, they are the best! I love them. I just had to play Copacabana to celebrate (also because my eldest didn't know it, I now feel that I have failed as a mother).

We had ducks, in fact we had one (a Khaki Campbell) that was a "house duck" for a few weeks, complete with nappy!! She would sit on your shoulder and nibble your ears and was sooooo cute!!
